NLG Chicago has been a sponsoring organization with the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism’s Mentoring Program since 2015.
The Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for experienced people’s lawyers to guide new lawyers in developing the practical skills and judgment to practice law as a people’s lawyer over the course of the year-long pairing. The program is free to participate in, although you must be a current dues-paying member of the National Lawyers Guild. Upon completion of the program, participants earn 6 professional responsibility CLE credits. For first-year attorneys, completed participation in the Mentorship Program satisfies their 6 hr. Basic Skills CLE requirement.
The upcoming Mentorship Program cycle will begin in January 2018, with a date for the orientation to be determined.
