As an essential component of the NATO Legal Support Project, the Mass Defense Committee (MDC) of NLG Chicago is coordinating the volunteer representation of individuals who may face criminal charges under City of Chicago or Illinois law during NATO. NLG Chicago commits to provide representation for all arrestees, limited only by our capacity and resources to do so. NLG Chicago’s volunteer attorneys will provide representation of those arrested throughout the criminal process and serve as on-call attorneys for emergency response and bail hearings during peak times.
If you or someone you know is arrested during protests, get in touch with the emergency hotline of the National Lawyers Guild of Chicago: (312) 913-0039
Help us provide these services! To offset costs of the NATO Legal Support Project, arrestees are encouraged to donate $10-$100 per court appearance to the NLG Chicago Mass Defense Committee. No one will ever be turned away for lack of funds.
Volunteer! If you are a criminal defense attorney, and would like to volunteer for representation please email Lillian McCartin at lillian.mccartin at gmail.com.
